BRAIN BREAK #3 - DITCH THE DIVAS 

 

No I’m not talking about getting rid of dramatic friends, I mean those annoying things on your to-do list that you keep putting off (for me it was organising my wardrobe!) Those things are taking up mental space without you even realising it! 

 

Why do I call them Divas? Think of your brain as a Stage that can only handle ONE STAR in centre stage at a time. 

 

Every time you notice that thing that demands your attention, it takes centre stage whether you want it to or not. That Diva takes time, focus and mental energy. 

 

A great way to get a Brain Break is to deal with one of those Divas. 

 

Think of something that you are putting off doing and try to calculate how many times that Diva has taken centre stage in your brain as you think, ‘Dammit I really should take care of that.’

 

Now IMAGINE what it would feel like to be able to tick that thing off your list! To tell that Diva she or he is no longer needed in the cast, they will get no more stage time! 

 

Your brain can now spend its energy doing things that are more productive, fun or interesting - Yay! 

Give your Brain a Break today by making a list of 2 or 3 Divas’ that could be dealt with over the next week. Commit to making progress in getting them off centre stage and helping out your Mental Wellness!
